My top 5 articles of 2022
The year is ending soon and each year I like to share my top 5 favorite articles of 2022. I did one in 2021 if you want to check it out. My goal for each year is to write better articles that offer a different perspective that hopefully teaches and reminds me towards positive actionable goals. Writing allows me to reflect and refine my thoughts, but it’s through action that provides the groundwork and the velocity for results. Thank you for reading and for your interest in my work.
With that said, here are my top 5 for 2022:
This is a powerful reminder that criticizing is easy and often not helpful. It’s important to appreciate someone putting in the hard work because most of the time, the people criticizing are the ones not contributing to anything. If it looks easy, it’s only because the person doing it has mastered their craft. I take criticism with a grain of salt and only seriously listen when it’s coming from someone that skin in the game.
What I got right: Looking Foolish
This realization was the biggest ego check I had to do in order to get the most return on any investment I’ve made. Whether it’s sports, public speaking, dancing, etc. You will be absolutely terrible and foolish when you first attempt something and that will continue for a long time. I started to improve quickly when I stopped caring about looking foolish and focused on learning. Gaining a new skillset is more important than temporarily being laughed at.
Inspired by a video game, this powerful lesson lets everyone know that any person can lose it all. Regardless of the many years taken to build or developed, everything and anything can be lost with a single decision whether that’s out of control or of your own doing. But there are a few things you can do that build resiliency.
Everyone will hear this phrase at least once in their life. But it’s worse when you hear people use it as an excuse instead of taking actionable steps. The time has already passed and there’s nothing you can do about it. This article reminds me that it’s never too late to get started, plus you never know what could happen once you start your journey.
On some days, it feels like the end of the world. In fact, it feels like the end of the world if you’re the person going through it. It’s only after it passes that it becomes a valuable lesson. Thinking in the long term has helped me tremendously in dealing with terrible events in my life. Like all good things or bad things, this too shall pass.
Let me know what was your favorite article. Have a great rest of the year!
